December 16, 2017 - Tyler Millwood Attends Gateway Dirt Nationals |
Bringing the 2017 season to a close, Tyler Millwood made the trek to The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Missouri) on Thursday night kicking off the second annual VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals. Splitting the stout field of 94 Super Late Models into two separate groups for a round of qualifying on Thursday, Millwood timed in eighth fastest earning him the 2nd-starting spot for his heat race on Friday.
Transferring the Top 4 into the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Millwood was running in 3rd until getting turned around on the third lap. Rejoining the tail of the field, Tyler worked his way up to a 5th place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 3 into the show, Millwood streaked to a 10-lap consolation victory positioning him 18th on the starting grid for the A-Main. After a tangle with another competitor brought out a caution on lap 14, Tyler reeled in a 15th place outing in the final 6 circuits.
Returning on Saturday night rolling off 4th in his B-Main for one final shot at the $30,000-to-win finale, Tyler was battling for a transfer position until he was turned around on a late-race restart. He crossed the finish line in 10th, ending his weekend early.
